πŸ“Œ Important Notes

  • Ranthambore’s core zones (Zones 1–5) close every year from July 1 to September 30 for monsoon/tiger breeding season, per National Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines. Buffer zones (Zones 6–10) remain open throughout this period, so safaris are still possible in monsoon months, just in different zones.
  • Safari slots are limited and allocated by the forest department, so early booking is strongly recommended, especially in peak season (October–March).
  • Tiger sightings are never guaranteed β€” Ranthambore has a high sighting rate compared to most Indian reserves, but wildlife spotting depends on the day.
  • Carry a valid photo ID for safari entry.
  • Wear neutral/earth-toned clothing β€” bright colors can startle wildlife and affect your safari experience.

Safari Zones & Vehicle Options

Ranthambore National Park is divided into 10 safari zones, managed by the Rajasthan Forest Department:

  • Zones 1–5 (Core zones): The original, most tiger-dense area of the park, closer to the main entrance. Closed every year from July 1 to September 30 for monsoon and tiger breeding season.
  • Zones 6–10 (Buffer zones): Added later to extend the park’s coverage, entered through a different route. Open year-round, including through monsoon β€” good for leopards, sloth bears, and birdlife, with excellent sightings in recent years as the tiger population has grown.

Jeep Safari (Gypsy): An open 4-wheeler seating up to 6 passengers β€” more maneuverable, generally preferred for photography and a closer, more flexible wildlife experience. Canter Safari: A larger, open-top vehicle seating up to 20 passengers β€” more budget-friendly for groups, covering the same zones as the jeep.

Zone allocation is subject to permit availability through the Rajasthan Forest Department’s official booking system at the time of booking β€” we’ll confirm your zone and vehicle once your safari permit is secured.

Is a tiger sighting guaranteed on this safari? No safari can guarantee a tiger sighting, since these are wild animals in a natural habitat. Ranthambore has one of the highest tiger densities among India’s national parks, which gives you a strong chance, but it’s never 100% certain.

Can I choose which safari zone I visit? You can request a preference, but final zone allocation depends on permit availability through the Rajasthan Forest Department’s official booking system at the time of booking. We’ll confirm your zone once your permit is secured.

Jeep Safari or Canter Safari β€” which should I choose? A Jeep Safari (6-seater) is more personal and maneuverable, generally better for photography and a closer wildlife experience. A Canter Safari (20-seater) is more budget-friendly and works well for larger groups, though with less flexibility to move quickly within the zone.

Is the park open year-round? Ranthambore’s core zones (1–5) close every year from July 1 to September 30 for the monsoon and tiger breeding season. The buffer zones (6–10) stay open throughout this period, so we can still arrange a safari for you β€” just in a different part of the park, with a good chance of leopard and bird sightings.

How far in advance should I book? Safari permits are limited and allocated by the forest department, so we recommend booking at least a few days in advance, especially during peak season (October–March).

Is advance payment required? Yes, a small advance is required to confirm your booking, including your safari permit. The remaining balance is paid directly to your driver on the day via cash or UPI.
